This pluggin is what I define as charityware and can be freely distributed. If you find it useful make what you feel as an appropriate donation to your favorite charity. You cannot charge or make any money from this routine by reselling or bundling them with another package/cd/web page without my permission.

To install this routine just copy the files into your 3ds Max plugin directory.

This is plugin is a simple particle displacement modifier. Basically it works the same way as the regular displace modifier except instead of a gizmo a particle system is used to displace the object. It very simple to use create an object and particle system. Assign a the Particle Displace to the object. Use the pick button in the Particle Displace rollup and select the particle system. Now where ever a particle is near the object the object will deform.

Note there are a lot of gotchas with this pluggin see the bugs list below.

Strength - this field is how strong/much a particle will deform the object Effect Radius - this how far out each particle will effect the object. Remember Effect - this make the effect accumaltive from frame to frame Effect Along Velocity - Aligns the effect to direction that the particle is traveling.

Falloff -these control the shape of the displace
Linear - simple linear straigh line falloff
Sinual - sinual shaped curve that ease in at both the start and end.
Sinual 1.5 - is an extended sin wave. Basically it creates a hole with a rim.
X^2 - more pointer than linear
X^3 - an even more pointer than x^2

X/Y/Z turn on or off the effect axis

Bugs - lots of them
When yout turn on Remember Effect you have to step through the animation frame by frame to see the effect correctly.
If you render with the Remember Effect it will only accumulate the effect from the start frame of the render.
With the remember effect turned on Net Render, Video Post and Motion Blur becomes unpredictable
